Origin and construction<\/strong>
Gothic letter box, Netherlands, Rhineland, ca. 1480-1520 with remnants of old red coloured painting.<\/p>\n

Quarter sawn oak boards with wooden nails fixed together and reinforced on each side with finely forged iron bands with gothic diamond pattern. Lower right corner, iron strap missing.<\/p>\n

Original lock and cover plate, movable handle on the lid. with patterns engraved.<\/p>\n
